PUMP ENCLOSURES REDUCE PUMP NOISE
Pump noise continues to be a major discomfort for lab technicians working in mass spec labs. Because pump noise is currently a necessary element of mass spectrometry research, high decibel levels have been accepted as part of the process. As a result, many labs are in violation of OSHA’s daily permissible noise level exposure guidelines. This issue can be improved.

OMNI has developed a number of design features that work together to create a integrated pump enclosure that provides a signifcant decrease in the noise associated with pump operation. Our enclosures are designed to accommodate pumps from Edwards, Varian, Sogevac and Pfeiffer Vacuum as well as others.
OMNI’s mechanical pump enclosures include features such as Sonex sound suppression foam, oil drip pans and integrated anti-vibration/anti-shock mounts for vibration dampening.

Additionally, OMNI’s pump enclosures include dual, triple and quad heat exhaust fans (117CFM) to dissipate pump heat. An optional hose collet can also be added to channel pollutant air to a central exhaust system. We have developed a number of design features that work together to create a significant decrease in the noise associated with pump operation when using our integrated mechanical pump enclosure. Sonex Acoustic Foam has a unique surface pattern that absorbs sound and it especially effective when paired with our non-metal enclosure. We reduced the decibel level in a California pharma lab from 81db to 63db.
